Photos
no longer simply record history
Use personalized photo art and products
for gifts and to spice up your surroundings
he
primary uses of photographs have evolved over the years to include much
more than simply recording history, and new digital technology offers
even more opportunities to share your images in unique ways.
A number of services have sprouted up over the
last couple of years that allow you to send your digital or scanned photos
over the Internet to a companies that will print them, frame them, put
them on coffee mugs, calendars, T-shirts, and the list goes on...
Two companies provide a marketplace for selling your works,
too. Cafe Press
and Zazzle
both offer services of printing and imprinting of your digital files and
they offer a program for marketing your products. Cafe Press sets a base
price and allows you to mark it up and keep the difference. Zazzle sets
the selling price and pays you a commission on sales. The more powerful
aspect of both programs is the ability to link to the pages about your
products from your own web site.
Still other services offer printing of digital files without
the extensive marketing back-end provided by Cafe Press and Zazzle. One
such service is Print
On Click. They offer the exotic "Gic'cli" art prints
-- your images printed on canvas and stretched on a wood frame. Quite
impressive!
You'll definitely want to keep a look out for new services,
as they seem to be popping up at a very rapid pace. If you know of any
services that might be helpful to our site visitors, please e-mail
us. Thanks.
